Looking good Ron! Keep up the good work - you're inspiring me!!

I've had a couple weak moments where I've considered selling my project lately. I've just been so busy with work that I haven't had any time to put in any serious work on the car. Even spent some time out in the garage tonight taking inventory for an ad but while I was doing so, I got excited about working on it again.

We'll see if I can keep up the enthusiasm...

What other changes have you made to the car for autocrossing?

A beam axle is usually one of the last modifications made to improve performance. This is because the rear is already the lightest part of the car so making it lighter has little effect. Until you've reached the limits of other suspension and power improvements a beam axle may hurt more than it helps.

I've been considering replacing the rear subframe on my wagon with a lighter beam axle. Any thoughts on potential pitfalls for going that route? The subframe on the wagon is actually in VERY good shape (looks new) - but I'm trying to make it light for occasional weekend autocross duty.

I understand that!  I am supposed to get the shell blasted this week. I need to get my subbys cleaned up!!!!

Nice!! Oh man I have serious steering wheel envy now.

Here is a pic of the latest work, found the steering wheel on flea/bay, from a chevy truck dealer in the mid-west somewhere. A good deal I must say. I had to refinish it, but it came out nice.

It all worked out with the chrome shop, I bought a set from someone on the board, and sent my bumper, corner bars, and over-riders to the chrome shop in exchange for them losing my latches. I haven't done much on the Woody since the last post! I did some powder coating tonight, seat brackets, Rod change rod(upper) , plate on bottom of rod change housing, and I did the switch panel in a Great looking grey! Can't wait to see it with all the switches on it! Gonna go down this week and mess with the subbys. Taking the Woody to be blasted as soon as the new year begins!

GOt some powder coating done last night. Still need to get the subbys cleaned and blasted. Then I need to order all the parts to put them all together.

You are making amazing progress on your project! I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to register your car on the site shown below so your pictures etc will be available at some point in the future when I am able to tackle mine.  Also, perhaps you should start a new thread here called Ron's Woody Restoration where you can post your needs and progress.

SO, my chrome shop calls my dad and says, we lost the little hinges that were in the box witht he rest of the parts. My day was not going well to begin with and now this! He said he would look all over this weekend for them.

This Is A Plea to Anyone who has  an extra set to sell.

Anyone ever seen a Black " vinyl " roof on a woody, like the old american woody cars?

I think I am the only one looking at this topic?? 

"Woody" now has an engine!!!!! I do need to figure out about what gearing the gearbox has???? Also, need to do a proper green colour paint for it. Where do you get Mowog green??? Also wondering which distributer to get, and whether to go dual carbs or single???

Wouldn't you think it would be better to have a rubber "collar" between the spring and the subby? My TR4A has them on it's springs? Just wondering. I will get the bump stops for the back and front.

i'm pretty sure you can use the stock trumpets. the spring sits directly in the subrame, and the alloy spacer sits between the spring and the trumpet. no rubber spacers. you can purchace the bump stops that prevent the spring from shifting when you jack the car up.
