Thanks for sharing that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes! That is the very supercharger I remember seeing (somewhere along the way). That thing looks awesome! Can you provide any specs on torque/horsepower gain??? So it does indeed fall under the "most sought after MKI part" category?! Come on guys, let's come up with some more parts! This is fun! I don't recall a super charger for an 850 of course I haven't seen it all. John Kendrick did a turbo kit that he sold though Seven in the 70s. Someone on this board has one of the kits. It would not have been for an 850. If you can find a collection of old Triple C magizines I'm sure one would be listed in there.
Steve
Edit: Do you want a super charger or are you looking for more power from your 850? I built an 850 for my auto cross car back in 68. It was very respectable and I drove it all though college. I'd be glad to give you the specs or build you one. As I think back the machine work and parts were just as expensive as building a larger unit. I did ever more love that 850.

Back to most sought after MKI part(s). How about a complete early bolt on supercharger assembly for a MKI 850! (if it wasn't a supercharger, then it must have been a turbocharger). I know someone made them. I saw a very early photo once!

I know I'm new to the mini stuff but i must have got lost or drank to much or something because somewhere in this thread the topic got all personal like it did in a couple other posts i have been reading. i am looking for information and i am finding alot more than that is people i am meeting. i guess i am just saying i don't know what the hardest parts to find are but slamming other people so other people can see that each are mad at each other is not good business in any regards. so i would say finding true car guys are harder to find than the parts. anyway again thanks everyone for being so informative.

Hugh, This was an interesting post before this bickering. Can it be dropped please?
I am amazed by the price of that 107... FIVE differen t bidders were willing to pay $6K or more for it!!! WTF???
I recall an ebayUK cooper S a few years ago that broke in two when the seller tried to move it while the listing was still active. He stated it had broken, but it still went for something like 25000UKP. At least that had a matching-numbers engine...
Personally, I think the rarest part is a balljoint nut that was on the upper right balljoint on GRX5D when it completed the '66 monte but was later disqualified. I have that very same, slightly rusty balljoint nut in my possesion, and will sell it for the first $500 bill to land on my doorstep.
It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

BLAH BLAH BLAU Okay Dr thank you for displaying your strongest attribute.
Back the subject please.
Hard to believe a 1071 cooper s shell would sell for that amount but in reality there were not many produced possibly 4000 or so and how many still exist? This one seems to be an Austin version and there was even less Morris versions than Austins built in less than a one year run. 15 serious bidders 30 bids total leads me to consider this a rare shell.

Happy Birthday Steve...you taking the day off will save someone huge amounts of cash. BTW, how many hours did you say you charge to remove a Mini engine and clean it so that you can start working on that unit? I believe it was somewhere around 17 hrs of labor, but I digress. What exactly is the dollar figure on that Mr CTR? Well over a grand as I recall. Anyway, I hope you enjoy John Parnell's book. John is an old friend of mine, and I was one of the few people in England at the time that got called together for a pre-publication look at his book. It is by far the best book ever written on Cooper and Cooper S cars, bar none. That said, it too has some errors--maybe one day we can sit down together at a Mini Meet and drink a beer and discuss them. Nah, I doubt that as you don't ever seem to make it to Mini Meet East. Again, I digress. Back to errors...that is life, and we are all human. Did I ever say that I know for a fact they put the inner fender shields on Austins? I don't believe I did. I said the parts book says they did. I cannot say what they did or did not put on ALL Minis, and neither can you. Yes, this all seems personal indeed. All I did was tell what the parts books have written in black and white and all you did was come back and say that you had the exact (and correct) answer. I say you don't. So here's the true answer: I don't like you and you don't like me. As if everybody didn't already know. Now, go gouge a few Mini owners and add to your retirement.

It's funny, today is my birthday and yesterday I bought a copy of John Parnell's book. This is my second copy as I loaned my first one out before reading it. I can't recall to whom and it really doesn't matter. After enjoying breakfast in bed I began reading my book. I figured I'd read from cover to cover rather than jump around. It will take me awhile but I feel I'll learn more this way. On the first page of the introduction he talks about the official BMC parts books and the unexplained and misleading nature of the information within. One 850 at my shop is a one owner and still running single leading front brakes. Let's be honest this is not about informing people it's personal, get over it.

"For general info there were four non recessed windscreen 850s at my shop for the turkey run today and only one had the splash panels. The Morris yes and the three Austins no. I stand by my earlier post."
""Steve""
And here is the next page of the parts catalog (page BN 2) detailing where they were used on AUSTINS as well as MORRIS'. Looks like you are standing by with your post in your hand...give it a couple of yanks and you'll feel better.

WOW, he sees 4 Minis that are 50 yrs old and he can definatively say that he knows what they did to ALL AUSIN 850's produced. No telling how many times those 4 cars have been bought and sold from owner to owner, and I am certain that each and every one of them is EXACTLY as it was when it left the factory. Well, I don't know what they did for certain, but what I do know is that they did show them in the parts catalog with change points. Here is where they appear in the BMC Body Service Parts list, AKD3503, Plate N 1-1.

I couldn't agree more Al, some things we just can't figure. In college we wanted someone to beat us with the ugly stick so the dolls would go out with us. Lifes like that. My friend is out of town as soon as I get a check I'll send yours along.

It appears some one added an air box large enought to handle split webers at some point. Spitz, it seems the 1071 factor adds much to the value of an early S. On wednesday I recieved a 190 tranny case to have the broken cooling fins restored. This is something I do to all trannys I rebuild. I'd say at least 3.5 out of 5 I see have a broken fin if not more.

Wow!.......over 4K pounds for rolling shell?
(where is the door trim btw?)
My 67 S rolling shell is a little uglier.....but also over 4K cheaper! ( and includes the proper door trim )
