There will be no more need to adjust the points and once timed it will be more reliable and responsive.

        To be used with a coil with resistance above 1.5 ohms and negative earth only Please ensure that your Live ignition feed is on the positive (+) side of the coil ready for your Powerspark Red wire. Please ensure that there is no power on the negative (-) side ready for the Powerspark Black wire. Distributor comes complete with cap and rotor.

The Powerspark Standard electronic distributor 59D provides your ignition system with a very accurate spark, this is our signature module and is the best your ignition can get.
Specifically matched for the A+ Mini this distributor will ensure that it is matched to your engine setup and tailored to your exact requirements. Please ensure you have the V shaped clamp holding the distributor into the engine.
This distributor is a big step-up from the old points style and it offers:

    • No adjustments needed
      • Simple wiring involves Red wire connecting to the positive connector on the coil and the Black connecting to the negative side. Distributor comes with cap and rotor.

Being such a popular distributor, our 45D is a big seller for classic car enthusiasts worldwide in this new, electronic form. Electronic Ignition models replace the points set with the patented Powerspark Electronic Ignition module.

Powerspark Electronic Ignition is the original electronic ignition conversion for classic cars, giving reliable starting and hassle free ownership.

The Lucas 59D distributor was used in the Mini from 1982 onwards in A Plus engines. It is is suitable for any vehicle that uses the Lucas 59D 4 Cylinder Distributor, such as the Mini, Austin Metro and Allegro, as well as some Morris vehicles. 

This 59D is a fully electronic ,negative ground distributor and fitted with a vacuum advance, as it was from the factory. Further, it has a curve suitable for the 998cc A+ engine.

All of our distributors have been developed to run on modern fuel, with a modern advance curve giving them a wide universal fitment.

The 998cc and 1275cc have an advance curve specifically developed to run well in those engines when used in a Mini or Metro.

The Powermax performance electronic distributor comes fitted with the signature Powerspark electronic ignition module (delivering a higher powered and more accurate spark than the standard ignition module)
AND
the Powermax red rotor arm which is designed for extra performance and made from modern materials for durability ensuring that your spark remains when needed. Unlike the older original Lucas and black riveted rotor arms our Powermax red rotor arm comes in a moulded design so you do not have the weak points to worry about.
Replacement ignition module is the PSM5 High Energy type.

I'm currently swapping my 91 spi mini from efi to carb and wanted to know if this distributor would be the right one for my application?

Thanks for checking- your Mini should require a A+ type distributor.
