On the 2002-2003 models, these vents were two piece units with a filter material that quickly disentegrated. If you own a 2002 - 2003 model, upgrade to these one piece grille and eliminate the filter, if it hasn't already disentegrated. (Your MINI has an interior microfilter filter the cabin air.)
