Left side is the drivers side and right side is the passenger side on US MINIs.

The A pillar Seal or Gasket gets sandwiched between the A Pillar Cover and the A Pillar. There is no hardware associated with this seal.

MINI factory replacement Left side A Pillar Cover. This is the shiny black trim between the front windshield and front door window that can get damaged from rocks or simply fly off from other damage or improper installation. Cover and Seal for left and right are sold individually.

The outer A pillar cover is attached with 4 expanding rivets which are included with the replacement cover, and 4 hidden screws behind the seal in the door opening (NOT included with the replacement cover).  Windshield installers sometimes miss the hidden screws and break the tabs for the screws during the windshield replacement.  Once the screw tabs are broken, only the 4 plactic rivets hold the cover in place  and guess what....  it won't stay very long!
