There are those who say that the lever shock, in perfect condition, is adequate for a road-going Sprite or Midget ! Well, so was a bias-ply tire when the car was new! We at Mini Mania have developed our own bolt-on kit allowing the use of conventional shock absorbers on the front of any Sprite or Midget! Fabricated upper brackets bolt to the inner wheel arch and additional brackets both reinforce the lower control arm and make up the lower mounting brackets. All parts are black-oxide finished. Very detailed instructions and diagrams are included. The kit is offered as a supply of the hardware needed for installing your choice of tubular shock absorbers. We of course recommend you go with our standard road shock and also offer you the chance to upgrade to the SPAX adjustable Gas Shock! Shocks are not included.
Question:
How does this interact with the front sway bar and sway bar bracket? I’m using standard wheels. Am I right in thinking this will not be a problem? I also have springs that are 1” shorter and heavier. What length shocks do I need?
Answer:
The front swaybar brackets on the wishbones are not an issue with this system. I recently confirmed that with someone who just installed the lower components recently. The kit does work with the standard steel wheels. I don't think the shorter coil spring should be an issue either.
