I've been watching your gearbox guy on YouTube rebuilding a solid remote gearbox great videos by the way , but my problem is that I have a straight cut close ratio box with a stripped 3rd gear but I can't get the first motion shaft through the bearing hole (22 teeth gear) to get the gear set out,has the main gear set actually been put together in place? Has he come across this problem before?

Wow, to be honest, I have built dozens and dozens of straight-cut gearboxes and while I vaguely remember something similar but not sure. I think it has to come out the normal way. While it is possible to knock the 1st motion bearing out pretty sure that would not work anyway.
