"Roller" rockers typically are associated with increased lift, but it is not necessary to desire the ultimate performance to justify the use of roller rockers. While a small gain can be realized by the reduction of friction the most tangeable benefit comes from the fact that roller tip allow the valves to be pushed open with very little side loading. This results in longer valve guide life, longer valve stem life and thus much improved consistency of performance. Roller rockers will pay for themselves in both reduced cost and improved performance.
