Fuel Tank Sending Unit, Pre Oct. 1964, Morris Minor
If your gas gauge is not working, it is likely that the tank-mounted sending unit is no good. A major change in the electrical system means that this sender will work properly in late 1964 and newer models. Screws for this sender are 53K165.

This later fuel sender unit would give a reverse reading if used on pre '64 cars

I don't have exact numbers, but when the tank is empty, you should have zero ohms, when full it should be about 50, or above.
