This is the small half elliptic piece that you engage with your screwdriver as try to adjust your front brakes. The outer edge is suppose to provide a course rachet for maintaing adjustment. The teeth aren't supposed to be sharp and these adjusters generally don't go bad. The FBK111 mask is usually replaced before these require replacing.
