If you have a stock hood latch, then you use a spring like this. Typically you only need one when you lose the original but be sure - you would not want to run your car without one! Used on Spridgets after 1961 and Classic Mini Clubman cars plus the twin point cars where the bonnet hook location was moved and all cars had an internal bonnet release cable.
