Yep, it's home in the garage. Tires have been ordered. Interior needs fumigated for mold. Once she's safe to sit in and rolls easy, I'll try to get the fuel system cleaned out and see if she starts.

Hi! What happened to your Mini since? Were you able to tow it?

On my home computer the photo in the message is sideways, but when I click on the photo it opens the right way up.

A double axel trailer does give that extra level of feel good.

You do not have to host the pics somewhere before posting. If you click on the green circle then you can post pics straight from your computer. That should open the pics on your computer, then just double click one and if the files not too big it will posted with your message.

For anyone still following, I decided to play it safe with a full double axle car carrier. Not because the Mini needed it but because it made me feel safer to have two axles and I am hoping it will be easier to resell if I decide do here in Arizona.

I guess I'll have to start a new thread for the projects. Just ordered tires.


***Also, how do people generally post pictures? I see how to insert it but I guess you have to host it somewhere first? It's been a while since I've been active on any car forums. I think I used to use photobucket but it's gone now IIRC.

If you need. keep a Uhaul Dolley in mind.. 2 rear wheels on the ground

 When renting from uhaul= they dont know what a Mini is...

 Select and early 80's vw Golf .  and it will select the 'Small' dolley.  That in turn will hold + fit + pull a mini behind just fine...
  not better than a full trailer but also better than buying + selling.

Firstly, apologies to everyone. I stopped getting email updates on the thread for some reason so I didn't realize there were more comments.

I am in Scottsdale and still planning on moving the car from Newnan Georgia to Scottsdale in December. It could move some time earlier or later but I'm driving that F-150 both ways for the holidays.

My plan right now is to buy a trailer in Georgia and then sell it in Arizona.

Big Al I can agree with you, however the 12 inchers replaced the 10's (one of the 10's was flat), allowing me to roll/drive the car.  

Going to all the trouble to replace 10 inch wheels with 12 inchers was just stupic, no trouble ever tieing down any 10 incher and l’m 230 pounds

Back in 2009 I towed my classic Mini from just outside Boston to Tempe AZ on a tow dolly I bought used from a friend in our car club.  Worked out great, I then put it in my driveway with a for sale sign and sold it right away for what I paid for it....you might want to check locally close to where you will be picking your Mini up.......

I was happy to loan you my trailer to get your Cooper S back home. That's what friends are for!

My update:  My wife and I left the Atlanta area (Acworth Georgia) on October 2 and drove North on I75.  Picked up a trailer in Tennessee and drove the empty trailer from Tennessee to Amarillo, Texas along I40 for a mere 1,112 miles (Amarillo to Phoenix would have been another 740 miles).  Stopped in Amarillo, changed the tires on my Mini from the 10" Cooper 'S steel wheels to the Rover 12" Minilight type wheels for better access to tie down the Mini, and loaded it on the trailer (Saturday 3 Oct).  Sunday morning (4 Oct) started the journey from Amarillo to Acworth driving I40 to Nashville and then to Chattanooga and South on I75 back to Acworth arriving Monday evening.  This morning I returned the trailer to Tennessee another 360 mile "road trip" arriving home before dark.  So, in all around a 2,800 mile road trip to safely move my Mini from Amarillo Texas to Acworth Georgia.  It was a 14' Aluminum trailer.

Also FWIW, if it's a classic Mini with an automatic transmission you can't flat tow that withou removing the axles and replace with CV joints with nothing in them.

just a CAVEAT for anyone using an enclosed trailer.  A few years back, a guy was unloading his car, Not a mini. When he opened the doors, the car rolled out and ran him over and killed him.  I'm guessing the car was not strapped down well, and maybe the hitch was putting the trailer on an angle. 

Careful. Get some 2" ratcheting web straps from Home Depot or Lowes and lock the car down to whatever you tow it with.  BTW, I've flat towed minis many times for 12 hours at a time.  Only issue with a bar and flat towing is you can not back up

When would you need it moved? Strangely enough I was recently contacted about moving a Mini from Phoenix to the East Coast. If that materializes I might be able to do you a decent deal on what appears to be an 1800 mile trip. Feel free to email me for actual quote. Cheers, Hugh

My first thought when I read your profile was "fill in your profile", people want to know who/where/when/contact info ...
Now, other thoughts are ( and I am making the assumption you are in Phoenix ) you want a car moved from Atlanta to Phoenix - a mere 26 hour drive - 1845.7 miles via I-20 and I-10 or probably close I-40 and turn left at Flagstaff.  Now, I will be moving my Mini from Amarillo to Atlanta.  What part of Atlanta is your Mini located.  Anyway my contact information is in my profile.
