rosebud..  I was telling him to wake up and smell the roses.   Classic car prices have gone through  the roof in last couple year.s.  porsche and ferraris at the top of this list..  Old muscle  cars.. Mustangs and all old Mopar also are hitting $100 large for nice cars..   I have stupic.s  call me all the time from England. thinking they can still buy barn find Fastback 67/68 mustangs for $5k..  and now this applies  to Cooper s.s   fyi    I deal with import and export of cars EVERY DAY.. for almost 45 years..  you arm chair experts..  only see the STUPIC money on barrett jackson auctions..   I was NOT been narley. prick... just up front..  I really HATE tyrekickers that  saw something back in  1967 and think I should drop the price to fit their TINY BUDGETS..in 2017..   My idea.. If I wanted LESS , I would ask LESS..   just lesson 101 in classic car buying..  happy turkey days  bc

I think most of us would agree that bench racing, whether it takes place in a buddy’s garage or on an internet forum is an enjoyable part of the car scene. Whether it’s Ford vs. Chevy, Hamilton vs. Vettel or the current pricing trends of our LBCs; good natured debate and an occasional snarky remark is why we come here.

 

Unfortunately, some of us never learned how to play well with others. That’s when I get up and find another bench.

actually maybe you are a bit THICK between the ears..?/ the market for MK 1 cooper s.s in England and Japan.. does matter here in the USA.. as there is huge market for real BMHT cooper and cooper s.s.. and will drive price up here in the USA..  btw. one just sold for $93k.. someone here will post the auction for you.. later  bc

Prices in England do not matter to me as I am buying a car in the USA. At 100K, I have got a bridge for sale if anyone is interested  

highnumbers and blowndaytona..  what would I know about classic mini prices in 2017.?? I have only imported 500 plus minis  and mokes in the last 20 year.and . I have been importing cars for 44 years..  bring a trailer is NOT  barrett jackson..and never will be.  might look at the prices for proper Cooper S in the Uk at gerry wadman shack..  sporting cars of brighton.. in the UK..   and $100K is cheap now for one with BHHT cert.. later bc

I think you are spot on with the numbers. I have been watching them for the last year and a half. $45 seems to be top dollar. I missed a really nice one that sold at mecum kissimee this past January. $60K worth of restoration receipts sold for 35. I researched the car but did not feel like playing the auction game. I am working a couple of leads but still welcome any new leads Thanks

Proves my point there, on the price! It's a beauty and a nice Mini, but the respray takes it from an "original" car to a really solid driver, in my opinion..

The biggest prices right now are being paid for immaculate survivor original paint cars. The one on BAT has been repainted and will not bring the kind of money ($65K) that the white/black late Mk1 brought on BAT earlier this year. 

Restored, you should be able to find a solid S for under $50K with relative ease and a only a little waiting. One of the best places to find a Mini in the U.S. is actually on this very site. Just do a LOT of homework before you buy anything, and know what to look for.

That is Michael B's Cooper S he is a straight shooter and with some interior work it would be a good driver quality S.

blowndaytona.. expect to pay STUPIC money for real MK1 Cooper s.. in LHD..  some have sold close to $100 large recently..    lots of the real cooper s.s with BMHT cert are going back to england. and japan.  later bill cox  Monte Carlo Minis LTD INC.
