The only worth importing minis are the Japanese classic minis, they are solid and doesnt leak oil. (Not a british car, but BC claims his minis for sale doesnt leak because he uses special 0-rings and bushings).
And the way to import it is to ship them by parts like what moog and marty did on their jap car , watch -----> https://youtu.be/3Cu795wWoqQ

Thanks for all of the replys! I had gotten really burned out looking for minis anywhere near me (500 mile radius) that weren't just terribly overpriced. And just as I was looking to go with the ebay buy, I seem to have come across an ad for a '74 close to me. Crazy how that works out. And thanks for talking me out of the UK ebay route. Cheers.

jim in ohio.. yes this is one of ellisons Mt. minis.. Sight inspection is MUST these days.. must be all OEM.. including the engine.. glass, even the seatbelts.. I recommend that IF you decide to buy from the UK .. get a BMHT cert ( www.bhm-ltd.com ). photos required and then buy from private party off www.carandclassic.co.uk and do HPI search also off the DLVA site ( which is the DMV there in england) .. and then have some go inspect the car in person like AA.. later bc ps I quit importing minis five plus years ago for resell.. no real money in it now.. cars too rusty and need to much work..( sure my old buddy Cheeky pete mustang would agree)

another good rule is to see the car. Sit in it and drive it. If you don't know minis, search here for how to buy a mini on the mm site.
rust is the biggest issue. Get it checked out by someone who can notice the repairs. Look for bodged repairs on body shells and repaints.

seems to be enough second hand minis here in the states without having to pay all the customs fees and hassles. for the price of putting on a boat, you could have one trucked from the other side of the country.
look here first.

A few thoughts come to mind.
Yes, they seem to have happy buyers but do we know what part of the world those buyers are in?
Why are all of the auction results private?
It looks like the seller has a business of selling Mini's for profit. This is not a bad thing, however that tells me there is a profit built into the price of each car (rather than buying private party). The FREE shipping, low Buy It Now price point and a profit factored in makes me concerned about the true value and condition of these Mini's. No one is going to sell a £10,000 Mini for £6,000 but many would sell a £6,000 Mini for £10,000.
Looks too good to be true and I'll bet it is regardless of purchasing for the USA or not.

kingpenm3.. RUN away from mountainminis. take a look at the thread by about my shorty is STUCK IN CUSTOMS.. david ellison is SCAM artist.. and I know of least 20 classic minis he has had SEIZED by US CUSTOMS here in the USA, and Mexico.. ellison makes the king of missing deposits aka bobby pack look bad.. might ping out Alex here.. that is in the UK. or try www.carandclassic.co.uk If you find your perfect mini. I can import for you..as I have resto shop in Aylesbury UK. but do NOT get involved in the money part as I am Lic NC dealer.. later bc www.montecarlomini.com

You mention "... from across the pond" which suggests you are in North America.
Although probably not the same seller, this thread tells some of the pit-falls of over-the-pond buying.
Be careful.

I quick little bit of googling and looking around here gave me a very bad impression of trying to buy cars from across the pond and get them shipped here. But the one company that seems to have a few listed these days have great reviews. Has this company figured something out? Or are there still many pitfalls in the transporting/customs process? TIA (Sorry for rehashing an old topic, but people seem to be very happy with the cars and service that this group is providing??)
