Looks very nice! Wish I was still in the Bay Area.... I had Miracle Auto Painting in Pleasanton paint a 64 or so Mustang I did for a guy. The spray work they do is very good. If you do the prep, you can get a very good paint job from them. They did the jambs, and under the hood and trunk on the Mustang too. I once worked for a used car lot in Hayward, and we used a Miracle across the bay for our paint. They'd pick up the car and deliver it back to us in a few days. Never had a problem. I redid a 66 VW Bug for a stepson, and when it was time for paint I took it to them. They painted it for free because of all the work I gave them, even though I wanted to pay for it. That paint job was never inside, and looked great 6 years later when he sold it. I told him not to sell it, and he still regrets it 15 + years later. One other thing I didn't know until later, was the Miracle that painted the Bug only used the best grade of paint, regardless of what you thought you bought, so even if you bought the lowest grade paint job, you got the best grade paint. They didn't tell you that. I'm sure not many do that. I know it's true at that location at that time, because I went to work for them later on. Wow, that was long winded....

Decided to do away with the license plate holder on MK1.  Using an old VW part to mount the plate.  More tomorrow on how it turns out and if I can get it to clear the bumper.

Using 3/4 spacers to clear the MK1 plate indentation.

Got a part number and source for that catch can? That would make a great piece for future reference.

Nice install on the catch tank it looks as though it was made for that position under the hood.

Some more progress.  The tank is in, new wiring harness is in and the lights are in.  Also installed a coolant catch can from a Polaris ATV using an existing hole just next to the rad.  Came out nice.

Yeap, figured out the LH wiring harness routing as soon as I noticed the harness would not reach the fuel pump =).  Funny thing is the wiring was so racked that the old harness was run down the LH

the car looks nice, it is too bad on the wiring harness, you don't have to hack any wiring to convert from generator to an alternator

keep up the good work

Great progress, good rebuild- keep the pictures coming.

FYI - Your rear harness into the boot is coming into the boot on the wrong side.

That harness should travel down the LH inner roof seam and down the C pillar into the boot.  That path allows for the fuel pump wires and the Sending unit wires to be on the correct side with the fuel tank.  and the Left Rear light wires will be right in place- along with the ground lug that will bolt right under the tank to the subframe mount point under the tank too - FInal wires strech over to the other light  and thats it!

Goodluck.

The wiring harness was hacked.  This is a 61 so came with a generator.  The car was converted to alternator which caused much of the hacking.  Other parts of the hack made no sense, so a new wiring harness is going in.  More on this later as I will need some help.

Car is back from paint too...now with a white top.  Chose to keep the red and color match it with single stage paint with a brighter white on top.  aint was laid down by.....wait for it....Miracle Auto Painting in Pleasanton //www.miraclepleasanton.com/ which looks good, with the exception of some overspray on the underside of the car.

Have a new project I am working on.  It is going to be a daily driver, short commute to Midas of Dublin (www.mideecar.com), where most of the build will occur.  Car came dry and rust free, with a 1380 7ent motor that pulls hard.  Lot to do, including the replacement of a new harness, as the old was was hacked up.

Here is where it started.
