You must be referring to us leaving Erwin TN in the Moke ready for a 17 hour drive with 38 degree temps (and a colder wind chill) with no side curtains pulling a camper trailer, the only good part was we were going South to warmer Moken weather.

I assume you are asking about the Smiths (not Lucas) gauge clusters found on the 1980s Minis.  What exactly are you looking for?  What is an internally threaded screw? Can you post a picture?
