CLM-( your post June 21st 2013-)

I have no quarrel with anyone putting a round nose on a clubman*  but l do have issues with people taking a perfectly good clubman and installing a v-tech in it-

*- John Wrens estate comes to mind, now residing in TN with Lawrence-

In the reverse, l have a 1963 Austin Countryman with a clubman front clip- (tit for tat)

Cup Cake had his green Woody in Winona in 2009 and Autocrossed it at the Meet.

(SEE Cup Cake's photo on page 1 of this thread.  It looks very much like the top photo in your recent post Rick T.)

I wouldn't rule this Wagon out because Clint's Wagon does have 'power windows' (drivers and passenger side!) I don't know just how far the Gent may have taken things to have a Wagon that looks just like Clint's, or sorta like Clint's???         Mini Estate

That dark green one looks to be a (Quick cover your ears Al!) converted clubman estate wagon due to the internal hinges.

Yes it's that time of year again, the search continues for a genuine photo of Clint Eastwoods Mini Traveller! OK, so I'm armed with some clues this time around. Apparently there is a Gent who frequents the 'Mini East Meets West' events who not only has a photo of Clints Wagon, but he himself owns a Mini Woody that looks just like Eastwoods! (true story) This guy and his Mini were at the 2004 and the 2009 Mini East Meets West. He hails from Minnesota. I've recently been dredging the internet for leads, and I came up with some photos from the 2009 Meet of two different green Mini Woodies, (I doubt if it's the dark green Wagon, because that's looking like a MKII and Clints was a MKI) If anyone can help provide a name, a face for the name, etc., it would be greatly appreciated. I may start a seperate topic to draw attention to this again. Thanks!    Mini Estate

Never had the pleasure to travel "Down Under" so , l must rely on the great magazine Mini Experience for my knowledge of OZ minis-

I am still trying to figure out if any Leyland dealers ever received a Clubman Estate in Canada-

Remember our last mini to arrive here was the 1980 model-

As l have always stated, a clubman estate wagon is the best value of any wagon (estate) built by BMC and its' successor leyland-No wood, just a great car with a 998cc or a 1098 cc engine-

I've probabaly misread his post as well... however... Clubman Estates certainly didn't go over well in Oz as they were never (sic) sold here - just like their ancestors, the T and C.  There is the odd private import and one very special factory prototype which was Oz bult using a mix of locally manufactuted parts and imported bits...

And we certainly didn't stop "receiving" round noses in 68.  "Our" Minis were mostly locally manufactued - including body pressings and castings.  And Roundies were available until 71 (I think).

Also don't understand the comment about "best value...."  ?? (maybe referring to the 1100 engined Estates?).  IMHO If there's one thing worse than wood trim on Minis - its fake wood trim.. Although, the Estate does have a pleasingly balanced profile - unlike its sedan relatives..

Tinnies Rule

Cheers, Ian

Ian not all Clubman Estates had fake wood trim the later models 78ish through 81 had transfers down the sides. In reference to Al's comment about best value he is refering to the market value of a C E compared to what you waould have to pay for a Tinnie or a woody C or T, but Clubman Estates are rising in value now along with Van's.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Yep only Morris , all Oz minis are MK1 same size back window etc , we changed the doors in about 65 and 71 and put a clubman front on it in 71 and as usual lots of little changes to bits and pieces, our minis are pretty unique and the best minis in the world (tongue in cheek )

Very interesting indeed. And from what I remember, only Morris Minis were built in OZ. No Austins. The OZ Minis retained the outside door hinges, and the small MKI taillights as well t/out production.

Station wagons were all private imports to Australia ....HOWEVER I did run into a lady at the Austin centenary day back in 2006, her wagon ( can't remember if it was an Austin or a Morris ) was bought by her father from the Syney motor show in the 60's it was on the B.M.C. stand, my guess is that B.M.C imported it for something different to put on their stand , I have not seen the car since so it is somewhere in Sydney. The British embassy in Canberra had a few wagons apparently for the wives of the embassy staff to drive around , apparently they were all white with wood and red interiors and get this  they were sent to the Cooper works for disc brakes before being sent to Oz. I can not substanciate any of the above but the stories have come from several different sources and there is a disproportionate amount of white wagons down here .

Got that right Mate!

I owned a '66 OZ Mini Sedan, and did learn a few things from the 'Minis Down Under'. I once even had a 1971 Morris Cooper 'S' OZ Police Car with roundnose and 'burstproof' doors already to be shipped over. I did know too, that the Mini Countryman & Traveller's were never built in OZ. I don't think they were ever officially exported there from Britain either. Anyway, all interesting points, (It's time to throw your 2 cents in now AL! HA!)

Big AL,

Just reread my last post. I wasn't referring to the "Classic" Clubman, but I can see how you could take it that way. I was indeed referring to the BINI version. Hmmm... six "L's" in Traverllllller then! Do you have any Canadian brochures to back up your claim! HA!!! Hey, here's one for you AL, what badging/script was found on the rear left door of a MK2 (1967-1969) Mini Travellllller? (home market and/or export?) Mini Estate
