It probably calls for DOT4, which my Spi car did, however, I changed over to DOT3 because the DOT4 absorbs moisture much faster. I don't need the higher boil rate of the 4, I don't drive that hard.

Just any normal brake fluid will be fine.

I have a story about clutch fluid. A somewhat naive Mini owner went to a local auto parts store and asked for clutch fluid. The salesman was new on the job and could not find clutch fluid listed in any catalogue the store had. He eventually sold the guy ATF (automatic transmission fluid) which ended up ruining the Mini's clutch hydraulic system and the guy eventually put the car up for sale. A friend of mine bought the Mini. He told me the Mini was recently restored and worth way more than he paid. The moral of the story is "Don't ask for clutch fluid".

Well that depends on whether you want problems or not. DOT 5 is silicone fluid and that will not give you any problems. That is what I use. Just clean out the present fluid. Do not mix. Great for the brakes too.
