I have an 18' all aluminum flatbed tandem axle trailer with a beavertail. Great trailer. Weighs about 1100 lbs. Tows like a dream.

I also have the Aluma single axle trailer. 7814ST Utility Trailer. It's the same as theirs, but I also have the front bug shield & side rails.

I love it.

Use it for everything.

Hope this helps.

I just purchased a very nice dolly from Craigslist.  It is the perfect size for a Mini. Lucky to get it for $400.00. Now only need to paint it my color preference and hit the road !! I have driven with it about 40 miles so far and I really think this is the way to go....very low overall weight and very easy to tow.  Do NOT try to back up though !!! I would post a picture, but they don't make it easy....

I have a single axle trailer that I had custom made by Iron Knight Trailers in Charleston to carry my Elf. I use a Fastrap tiedown on each wheel, and a kryptonite cable through the front subframe just in case. I've hauled it from South Carolina to Minnesota and all the way to Mini Meet North in Ontario with no issues, other than that I think the trailer weighs more than the car and pulling it through the mountains with my V6 Tacoma was a bit slow going. I haven't been using it much lately, since the car is so great to drive cross country. I'd like to downgrade to something a bit lighter in the future, and this one is up for grabs if anyone's interested.

It'll be close. I think the vans are about 4" longer in the wheelbase.
To balance the trailer for a 200lb tongue weight, my Moke is pretty far back. Your van will probably balance further forward.
I think it'll fit but tie downs might be an issue. My straps don't have much of an angle. (see photo) Maybe use tire bonnets?
Also, I would look into ordering it with a beaver tail. My Moke just clears going up the ramp. I would think that, with the longer wheelbase, it might be an issue.

Welcome back!

Moke restoration has stalled due to... the fact my other car broke while I was fixing it and I have had too much fun in the Moke to care about fixing a Ford...

Still running it's original 850 which is running like clockwork, original trans still sounds like a rock tumbler.. no change in the trans since I put the 850 back in.. Now I am fine tuning the electrical system (read: fighting random ground failures and 50 year old fuse boxes) I have started back straightening out another mini shell so I can pull the moke apart and finish it, next purchase for the moke I hope is a whole new front panel with removeable grill... so I can swap and save my original in an uncut state $$$

All I can say is that, if I saw that going down the road I would either give it a lot of room or get past it as quickly as possible.
But, I suppose, kudos for getting things done on a budget.

What is overloaded or close to in my pic is the trailer axle and 8 inch tires. You can get the same 4x8 trailer frame with a tubular axle and 12 inch tires rated to 1720 pounds for $370, which will easily handle the 1200-1500 pounds weight of a mini with enough left to put some lightweight rails for the tires to run in. True you would not be able to put the mini on then load it floor to ceiling with all your gear... but it will handle the mini alone easily.... It may look scary, but the numbers add up

I have a Featherlite 3110 open aluminum car hauler.  It weighs 1400# has brakes on both axles, the fenders come off so that the doors of cars can be opened while the car is on the trailer.  I have carried two minis on this without a lot of drama.  It will continue to be worth what I paid for it for some time.  It carries super cars as well as it carries my mom's Acura.

I've got a set of ramps and a winch to haul a Mini in the back of my '96 F250 pickup.  I bought it from a MOASF member here in the SF Bay Area and modified it to fit my long bed truck.  It's OK in a pinch with a single cab truck, but it would be much better in one of the extended cab or double cab trucks or an F350.  The longer wheelbase trucks would ride better with a Mini in the back.

And (insert shameless plug here) it's for sale if anyone is interested.

Yep - Lots of ways to skin the kat.!

For yourself you should  consider-  How much will i use this really?  have you missed out on not being able to tow your mini to somewhere exactly?  Was that place within reason of a drive but you dont trust your mini? TOo much other stuff to haul? etc.  Ive dont plenty of 3-5 Hour trips inthe mini with a wife and bags.. Its do able - but not going to be fun in the summer.

As a backup (just in case if the mini dies) etc need to tow= Harbor Freight Tow bar- modded to pull a car home.( sure my 4 wheels need to work to do that but i have the means to pull it back.  Knock on wood - Havnt had to go into rescue mode.

If i do need to tow farther - or want to tow far i have a friend with a 5 x 10 Landscaping trailer=== Sure its not the best  or the lightest  and it has rails so you cant open the doors. But it works.   Boards for ramps=  I can hand have tranported mini's long distance with that... Local Craigslist usually  have them up usually around the 1000$ mark.

By Borrowing - I dont have to store . tag or title it either. My friend and i have a "open t use clause _ just come n get it - you're responsibe for broken or lost items.  I keep the tires inflated and needed maintaince. we split the lifetime tag cost.

Dolly would be just as nice as a tow bar  = but still - havnt totally had to dolly one anywhere

We have used many things over the years.  Dolly, flat tow, steel open single axel, steel enclosed single, aluminum open single, aluminum enclosed tandem and in the end Greg is now using aluminum single with a soft cover.  The current single with the soft top was a custom unit made by a company that is no longer in business and the heavy duty soft enclosure was made by a friend.  The soft cover has zippers for the back door.  The car stays dry and dust free and tows like its not there.  Lot's of ways to skin a cat.
