hi  the car is like many old racers   fixed many times   with over 300 race weekends and a few major crashes   its been  put back together , the roof is mk1 the floor pan and rear is mk ??  the front is a mk11 clip  but  all well done  and  part of its history ,    blc works  re bodied the car  sort of in 64 to show the new cooper "s:" 1275   Ted was a  blc contract driver, they sent grill , rear lights  and badges ,  1275 engines and disk brakes,  ted  converted the cooper to a ":s":  with the parts , when  I bought the car 1989  it came with loads of  works parts aluminum doors and hoods  4 sets of minilites magnizium, lots of 1275 blocks and heads. all gone now.

there are still a couple of the old "operation 850" home movies on the web, from the BMC introduction junket with Innes Ireland, Denise McCluggage, Juan Manuel Fangio, Roger Ward, Pedro Rodriguez, etc.  Bob's car is probably in there somewhere...maybe here? //www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xNU5_iZH7A

The car looks great.  I grew up watching SCCA Minis and this takes me back to Mid- Ohio and Road Atlanta.  Just out of curiosity, when did it aquire a MKII front clip?  Was it a replacement for some of the accident damage seen in the pictures?  These old racers always have such an interesting history as to how they came to be what they are today.  We think posterity would dictate keeping it original and preserved, but we know from experience that parts, pieces, panels and everything else was expendable.  These cars were tools and used until they wore out!

If it hasn't sold by September, PLEASE bring it to Watkins Glen for the festival and/or races.

Beautiful car with a great history.

We can fix that ... just need a blowtorch and more peanut butter.

There're probably only a few of us around who witnessed those races.

What a tidy little racer Bob...I dig the bare-minimum approach.  Looks like you did your own loom?

If you don't mind, what were your symptoms and how did you decide you needed to go in when it happened?

Fangio and ireland at the race  at mosportpart of the 850 super tour, BLC outfitted a trailer full of new 997 coopers  with roll bars and sent them  to usa and Canada for demo racing

all the  big names drove them at limerock, monterey and mosport.  Innes was fooling around and started backwards.  he rolled the car in corner 5 and got disqulified when he middle fingered the starter  who wanted him to come in.

Ted powell bought the car and raced it in gt and trans am.

Thanks cupcake  i was trying the link thing with photobucket.
