I have a 1977 clubby estate RHD, I have driven it everyday during this winter, in Kansas city. I run the maintenance side of a 410 unit apartment complex, so it has been the perfect size for tools and parts. We even use it to move couches and mattresses to the dumpster. I just have to stop the kids from jumping on it!! It is nice to see how 'sort after' it appears to be, the next tool I need is a welder though! The drivers door hinge has been inoperable for sometime now, but one step and I'm out the passenger side!!

Gee Big Al....not all Canadians are forced to endure winter ya know. Us out here in LotusLand on the Wet Coast can actually drive every month if we pick our days. I've driven our Mini every month this winter...albeit some were short trips.

2" of fresh snow, freezing rain, ice pellets and rain here today on top of MANY feet of snow.
Now the question:
CE all the way. I have owned many many non Mini Wagons, SUV's and hatchbacks over the years. If I ever get lucky enough to have a Clubman Estate, I'll be haulin' 2x4's in the back or whatever needs haulin', that's FOR SURE ! I won't bag drive it, but I will use it as it was intended.
We own a classic and 2 modern MINIs'.(and 2 modern non-Mini wagons)
The Classic is more practical most of the year than the BINIs. We don't drive it in the winter......of which it still is !
Spring, where are you ?

Kerr I think that was the point... Big Al is bored waiting for spring and playing with his string
Now the answer to another of big Al's questions is 'depends'
I thought for a moment that you were saying Al wears depends.....

At the risk of spouting heresey, the most prictical Mini was our 2003 JCW MCS...the most desired is our current Mini Tartan.
Was "prictical" a Fruedian slip? LOL!
Nope....just lack of spellchecker & typing my reply in a hurry...or is that in a hooray? ...Or maybe it's the way we Cannucks spell the word...you know, like coloUr?

I am 100% for the Clubby Estate as being practical, as for sought after I would go with anything MK1 in pretty much any condition short of destroyed beyond repair.
My '76 Clubby Estate was a great car for just about anything, I drove it for 2 years while I was in England, and then another 2 years here stateside. Out of all the 5 mini's I did own, not counting my current, it was the most dependable and useful for more than a daily driver, I could actually fit all my camping gear and go on a long trip anywhere, and it was small enough to fit in my tent.

I'd disagree with the Aussie Moke, though we are obviously in different parts of the world.
Pickups and Vans are probably the most lusted after here.
Clubbie Estate every time for practicality, and they are starting to fetch big prices as people realise how good they are and they become much higher on the Wanted List.

Well, I've never hankered for a Moke and precious few are on the road at any time out here in the great northwetness.
On the other hand, I have come to like the Aussie Mini Van...good for 2 to travel in, good carrying capacity (volume), good visibility with the rear side windows (ala Countrymen & Estates), Clubbie nose is soooo much better at aiding power unit access. and rollup & vent windows...while keeping the door pockets are a plus too.
