I'll check with Garry D***ens to see if he has the numbers handy.

The Danish brochure publication no 1792/B has no mention of Cooper 997.

All other Mini models are mentioned, and it states that you need to ask for separate brochures for the Super & Estate.

This back up Gerry,s  dates = June 61 Super & July 61 Cooper.

Yes you are so right, but its not a std magic wand, the one in the Super is chrome plated.

One of the other rare items that ONLY the Super had.

Interior color hadn't been mentioned, but if blue, probably a Deluxe as Garry says. Super interiors were the same as the Cooper.

I emailed Garry and sent some pictures.  Based on the evidence of original colors Fiesta Yellow/Blue interior and the pictures, he thought it started as a Deluxe.  It was fun to check though.

I received my Heritage certificate today and it has:

1 Make & Model  Morris Mini-Minor Super Saloon

2 Car/Chassis #  M-A2S4DL/123XXX

5 Specification  LHD, North American Export, De-Luxe

7 Date of Build 30 April 1962

Color and engine have been changed, no idea how many times.  Is there a way to match up the FE # to see if it is the same shell?

It has been 'Cooperized' with Cooper badges, is there some things I should look for to see if it really is a 'Super'?

Same for me... not intending to imply any LWB Supers.

Just seeking clarification as I have seen references to Super Deluxe LWBs in a book and our 64 tin wagon has the 3 gauge binnacle and the trim around the windows. The Heritage certificate mentions nothing and only lists the heater as an option.

The power unit (engine and gearbox) is stock 850 for the period so, yes, a magic wand.

Those pics of the one for sale are great.
I notice that one more thing is different from a Cooper, besides the lack of Cooper engine and brakes...it has a magic wand shift

Thanks for posting the link of the Super for sale-the photos will help me to restore mine correctly!  Thanks also to Chuck and to Garry for IDing my Super and for their advice.  And no mine is not for sale.....  About the only part I am missing is the hard to find grill-does anyone have one for sale here in the USA?  I will buy or trade early Mini parts for one. MEB - yes, I understand that.

My first post to this thread suggests that later cars (later that the "Supers") had the word 'super' in the model name, as in 'super deluxe' - which probably led to the name confusion that there were more "Supers" that there really were.

I was not intending to suggest my Countryman was a "Super". It did not have the "Super" grille with the extra exterior vertical bars - just the regular MK 1 Austin wavy grille. It was fun and well-loved, but it wasn't a "Super".

Cheers.

I only had the car during college - it rusted badly and i eventually cut it up with hand tools (hacksaws and hammer and cold chisels).

I will have to see if I have any pictures of it.

So, sorry, other than saying it had sliding windows and the rear seat sliders did have vertical chrome strips with a finger grip, that's all I can tell about it. I'm pretty sure the driver and passsenger door windows did not have chrome sorrounds, if that's what you mean.

I'm pretty sure it was built for Canadian export, as I do recall the big snail heater fan and swapping in a bigger fan motor from a 56 Dodge (or something). Later it got a 1100cc engine transplant with the remote shifter.

(Side note: the magic wand shift lever would fit into the remote for the RatFink shifter effect. Humourous but useless! But I was tempted to see of it would work.)

Supers were all saloons, no countrymans in the bunch.

The Super grille could be sold to some Super owner in need. You'll make enough to pay for a new grille and have money left over. Plus you would have done a good deed!

I almost have a FAKE super.  I have the SUPER grille for my (very early) 62 Austin Countryman with 7" disk brakes.
